Our last night before Kharthoum was spent camping in the sand dunes near these pyramids at Meroe. No sound and light show here as at Giza in Egypt!

Stunning stuff , great photos., beautiful colouring. They are so little known internationally. My cousin Jessie (the Ancient Historian) wasn't allowed to stop off in 1922 to see the digs which must have been very frustrating. Tho probably much was still buried at that stage.
By the way, found another Englishman who did Alex to Cape; in 1979,-81 (over 27 mths!) now EU Rep in NZ, oddly enough, George Cunningham.
